Pests - Aphids

Winged and Wingless Aphids

Aphids are small soft bodied insects that obtain their nutrition by sucking sap from plant tissue.

During this feeding the Aphids inject saliver into the plants leaves causing damage and often transmitting viruses from plant to plant.

Potatoes can surfer very heavily from aphid infection which will reduce the yield.

There are several different viruses that are transmitted to potatoes by aphids like Potato Leaf Roll and Potato Virus Y.

Aphids can be chemically controlled during the season.
