Disease - Common Scab
Irrigation to help Scab control

Caused by the Streptomyces Scabies, this occurs in most areas that produce potatoes and is a major production problem that effects the quality of the tuber.

Symptoms are irregular brown scabs on the tuber surface that can cover almost 100% of the tuber.

Control is based on maintaining the soil moisture and the tuber forms by using irrigation. Infection takes place at Tuber initiation (see diagram).
