Disease - Rhizoctonia

Black Scurf on the tuber surface

Rhizoctonia attacks the stems of the plant and causes black scurf on the tuber surface. This disease affects potato development from emergence to harvest.

The development of Black scurf (sclerotia) occurs after desiccation and appears in the form of small flat superficial black specks to large black masses that can cover a major percentage of the tuber.

Control of the disease is achieved through planting clean seed, treatments and by crop rotations.
